Even with anything bigger than .01 micron filtered out, the mighty river has a lush essence of brine, with complex notes of walleye and a disarmingly viscous finish.

What? No slight vanila overtones? No lingering aroma and flavor of the urine that lasts 10 minutes on the palate?

Midget update

Those weren't just some regular midgets! 3'8" Debra Shea and her 3'6" daughter, Concelean Pegues, who were verbally harrassed by their neighbor (ie, he told them to "follow the yellow brick road") are the mother and the sister of a Coney Island celebrity - Koko the Killer Clown. Heh.

According to this, Koko's skills include balloon art, disco dancing and he has a disturbing comedic monologue.

NYPD overruled

City lawyers overruled the Police Department and charged a band of Brooklyn toughs with a hate crime for allegedly shouting, "Black power!" as they beat up a group of girls in Marine Park, The Post has learned.

Sanity prevails! The attack was a pretty vicious one - Two girls were taken to a local hospital. One suffered a torn muscle in the forearm, had a chunk of her hair pulled out, and received a CAT scan because of kicks to the head..

Haven't heard anything from Al Sharpton yet.

'Women's issues"

More than 100 students have ordered T-shirts bearing "I [heart] My Vagina" for girls and "I Support Your Vagina" for boys.

"We can't really find out what is inappropriate about it," Rethlefsen, 18, said of the button she wears to raise awareness about women's issues. "I don't think banning things like that is appropriate."

Stop the presses! A brave Brittish muckraker uncovers suppression of free speech in the U.S. of A!

A film with Joaquin Phoenix and Ed Harris from 2001...yet the majority of the population hasn't heard of it? And there are only 8 reviews on this page? That illustrates more than anything how the powers that be can suppress free speech after events like 9/11.

The above is from a customer's review of the movie Buffalo Soldiers on Amazon.com.

As for the movie itself, which shows American soldiers in a not such a positive way, the same reviewer concludes - it's an eye-opener, even if it is mostly fiction. Get it? It's not real - it's fiction - and bless this intellectually honest individual for recognizing that fact, but it's still an eye opener! I can totally relate! I saw Van Helsing the other day. Man, what a movie! Vampires, Frankenstein's Monster, etc! I mean, I know it's fiction, but, J.H.C, what an eye opener!

Puppy love

So, Natasha Lyonne misses a court hearing (charges include harassment, criminal mischief and trespassing), but we don't really care. What we really care about are such juicy details as:

The complaints continued until Dec. 17 when Lyonne allegedly barged into her neighbor's apartment, tore mirrors off the wall, threatened to sexually molest a dog - and was arrested.

Keith Whitmoyer, a 24-year-old philosophy student at the New School, is battling lung and stomach wounds in St. Luke's Hospital after Sunday's vicious attack. He was shot in front of his terrified fiance after a thug followed her into their building on West 108th Street and pushed his way into the apartment, demanding cash.

After robbing the pair, the burglar appeared to linger, prompting Whitmoyer to ask, "Are you going to shoot me now?" The thug then pumped three bullets into him.

Unlike Nicole DuFresne, this guy survived.

Whitmoyer and van Leeuwen are human-rights activists and volunteer with "The War Resistors League," friends said

"Campaign of hate"

April 16, 2005 -- The yellow brick road ended in court after a Brooklyn man allegedly harassed a midget mother and her equally diminutive daughter, mocking them relentlessly with chants like "Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go."

Joseph Izzo's campaign of hate culminated with his arrest Thursday after he spray-painted a yellow line outside the Brighton Beach home of 3-foot-8 Debra Shea and her 3-foot-6 daughter, Concelean Pegues — before telling them to "follow the yellow brick road," according to court documents.
