Babies killing babies

Queen Washington, an 11-year-old straight-A student and the "star" of her family, was left dead in a tragic, senseless crime that tore apart the two girls' mothers - also best friends.

The 9-year-old was charged with manslaughter last night after she allegedly plunged a kitchen knife into Queen as they tussled outside the apartment where they had spent many hours playing together.

"She wanted to go over there to spend Memorial Day weekend," Queen's devastated grandmother Muriel Washington, 44, told the Daily News.

It's a shame, the victim and the perp being so young... Do the math, though. Muriel Washington, 44, is the victim's, who's 11, grandmother. At that rate, she would've been a great grandmother by 50

Aint it a bitch?

Officers said they entered the house at 1050 Marconi Blvd. after receiving a tip that there were guns and drugs inside.

That's when the pit bull lunged at them, they said — prompting them to open fire.

One woman was struck in the calf and shin, the other in a big toe, cops said.

A search of the house produced a 9 mm handgun, $2,700 in cash and 11/2 pounds of marijuana, they said

Ideal retirement?

I think I got a new personal hero!

Some retirees climb mountains. Others sail around the world.

Dan Freeman has a dream, too - hitting a different bar three or four times a day.

The 60-year-old Brooklyn man is on a quest to have a drink in 1,000 watering holes this year, and he's chronicling his boozy adventures on his blog, "1000 Bars."

The News tagged along with Freeman this week on stops 525 through 527, downing beers at three Manhattan bars he had yet to visit.

"I don't understand those people who say they're retired and bored," Freeman said, taking a sip from a bottle of Heineken at Bellevue, a bar in Hell's Kitchen.

On pace to hit the mark on his 61st birthday in December, Freeman is savoring his tour of city bars - from corner dives to Irish pubs to a lesbian bar he unwittingly patronized.

"Someone in there said to me, 'You know you are in a lesbian bar,'" he recalled. "And I said, 'Well, okay, can I get a drink?'"

May 18, 2005 -- A pervert installed a video camera under an Upper East Side subway grate — and had been taking lewd shots up unsuspecting women's skirts, police said yesterday.

The hidden camera, an Archos Jukebox Multimedia, was found at 3:15 p.m. after a woman spotted a box with wires sticking out of it under the grate on East 88th Street and Lexington Avenue.The site is two blocks from the busy 4, 5, and 6 station at 86th Street. Cops — fearing the suspicious box could be a bomb — closed off the street.
When they lifted the grate, they found the camera, attached to a hard drive, pointing upward.

The so-called "upskirt camera" — used to take pictures that are often posted on the Internet — was working, cops said. The camera was taken to the 19th Precinct station house, where cops are trying to figure out the Web site that was receiving the images.

Heh.

Employee of Budweiser fired for drinking Coors

A former employee of a Budweiser distributor said a sip of Coors cost him his job.

Ross Hopkins, 41, said he was fired as a supervisor at American Eagle Distributing Company after he was seen by the son-in-law of the company president with a Coors at a Greeley bar.

His apparent disloyalty led to his dismissal two days later. And now Hopkins is suing American Eagle in Weld County District Court for unspecified damages, saying he has a right to drink anything he wants in his off-hours.

In its court response, American Eagle doesn't directly challenge that Hopkins was fired, at least in part, for drinking a Coors in public. But the company said it didn't engage in a "discriminatory or unfair employment practice."

Heh, also see my post from February - Miller employee fired for drinking Bud. Kind of hard to have sympathy for any of these guys. Bud, Coors, and Miller are piss beers.

Nanny 911

Demon dad Jerry Hobbs told cops he murdered his 8-year-old daughter and another little girl with a kitchen knife because they defied his orders to leave a park, Illinois prosecutors said yesterday.

The ex-con, who had just finished serving two years in prison for terrorizing a trailer park with a chain saw, was furious that his daughter, Laura, was out playing when she was supposed to be grounded for stealing money.

"Mr. Hobbs believed that her mother was too lax in her supervision of Laura," Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Jeff Pavletic said.

This guy is a master disciplinarian! How do you prevent a little girl from disobeying in the future? Make sure she doesn't have one!

Bah.

Amateurs!

May 11, 2005 -- The feds busted a Russian immigrant after finding a cache of 1,300 counterfeit law-enforcement badges and a stash of weapons, drugs and cash at his Bronx home, authorities said yesterday.

Sergio Khorosh is charged with possessing and attempting to sell counterfeit shields for federal and local agencies including the FBI, Secret Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Air Marshal Service and the NYPD.

Authorities were led to Khorosh after Customs and Border Protection inspectors in San Francisco intercepted a package from Taiwan that was marked "badges."

"This was a truly frightening discovery," said Martin Ficke, special agent in charge of the New York bureau of the Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

That parcel contained 100 counterfeit U.S. marshal's badges.

Duh..

Not just seafood!

A cyber call-girl ring busted last month had a global reach.

An indictment unsealed yesterday alleges that New York Elites sent prostitutes around the world at the request of well-heeled customers.

The indictment was filed against alleged ringleaders Elena Trochtchenkova and her boyfriend, Rady Abdel Salem Abbassy, who were initially charged with dispatching hookers to 22 cities in the United States.

The indictment alleges that prostitutes were dispatched to other locales on two-week "tours." It did not specify where outside of the U.S. the hookers were sent.

While on "tour," prostitutes work out of hotel rooms booked by New York Elites or Exotica 2000, the indictment said. The indictment also alleges that Trochtchenkova and Abbassy used money derived from the prostitution business to fund a Brooklyn seafood eatery, Barracuda Restaurant in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

I've eaten there before. Should've paid a closer attention to the menu, I guess. Heh.

Face != Vagina

BALTIMORE -- In an effort to put her best face forward, one woman decided to use a product on her face that was meant for a different part of the body.

A guest on the television talk show "Oprah" recently shared her secret to fighting facial wrinkles: vaginal cream.

"I have been putting Premarin vaginal cream on my face for 20 years, and it works," said Vicki Mackarvich.

Oprah Winfrey was a little stunned, but interested, reported WBAL-TV in Baltimore.

So, how did Mackarvich, 58, ever think to use vaginal cream on her face?

"I lived in Florida for a long time, and a dermatologist told me I have very dry skin. I was always in the sun, so he said this would do the trick," she said.

But Maryland dermatologist Dr. Irving Wolfe said estrogen in Premarin causes irritation to the skin.
