Canon XSI

Had my baby for almost two weeks now and absolutely love it. Sure I've taken a nice amount of great photos with my point and shoot cameras, but most of those I took in ideal conditions - good lighting, still objects, etc. Well, with the XSI I am no longer confined to those factors. I can boost the ISO up high without worrying about noise, the focus doesn't hunt and the camera turns on in a second. Am really psyched!

Got this as a gift from a friend a few days ago and just tried it out today. Works as advertised and would probably be perfect for the office as this will only make a single serving.

There's an interesting article in the NY Post, today, about multiple foreclosures within two small blocks in the Staten Island. Here are the particulars.

Figueroa, 42, and her husband, Jos, 41, bought their $445,000 three-bedroom, two-story dream home less than two years ago from a developer. Neither had owned property before. They support four children with Desiree working as a waitress in Brooklyn and Jos as a UPS driver.

"I never thought they'd let me have the house because my husband and I have such bad credit," Desiree explained.

Unfortunately, six months later they realized that they couldn't pay the $3700 monthly mortgage, bills and buy groceries. Whose fault?

We got suckered into it and looked like idiots," she said. "I'm not buying another house anytime soon.

Ah, but ofcourse. Couldn't be their failure to budget beforehand that's at fault. Nobody takes responsibility for anything anymore. That the real problem in this country.

Canon XSI

Mine is on its way and will be delivered on Monday. Initially I was going for the body only, but then I figured that I might as well get it with the kit lense. EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS for only a $100 more? Why not? I am planning on having this camera with me at all times so, at only around 200 grams, this one will make for a perfect general use, walk around lense. While at it, I also ordered a second lense - a Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM. This one will be my indoor lense since I find the flash to be very obtrusive in a socia setting, and this baby open up to 1.8. This, ofcourse, means that I now have to get a camera bag, as I can't just throw a dSLR and lenses in my regular bag, as I did with my SONY H5 (which has served me admirably for two years, I should add). Tamrac Messenger 4 fits the bill perfectly.. On the outside it looks like a regular messenger bag, but inside its padded and has adjustable compartments for a body and lenses, which means that I won't have to look like a tourist till actually get to where I am shooting at. .
