Just because I love beer doesn't mean I don't have to eat healthy. Above is the photo of yesterday's lunch and it was probably the best meal I had all month. Beef marinaded in Char Siu sauce (Chinese BBQ) and grilled on a Le Creuset cast iron grill pan (a must for any kitchen!). The veggies consist of mushrooms, asparagus, snow peas, onions, scallions stir fried with Korean BBQ sauce on a Calphalon wok. And ofcourse there's the beer. The beer is Hollandia. This one caught my eye at the local asian market (no it's not made in China!) and I decided to give it a try. It's an easy to drink beer that rivals Heineken and happens to be a a lot cheaper! A good every day beer for sure! That was some meal and I am running it back to back as I have plenty of ingredients left.

This is getting pretty good now. At first the black community was screaming that they are trying to shut Rev. Jeremiah Wright up, but now the complaint is that they are letting him speak. Just check out the comments under this article. As for the article itself, I guess what Errol Louis wrote should have surprised me, him writing for a mainstream newspaper and all -

Wright has, unquestionably, been caricatured and vilified unfairly. The feeding programs, prison outreach and other social services he has built over more than 30 years are commendable, and his reading of the Judeo-Christian tradition as an epic story of people trying to escape slavery is far more right than wrong - and not something to be caricatured or compressed into a 10-second sound bite.

...but it doesn't. Nowadays its acceptable to defend and support racists, as long as they are black. Praising Wright for the feeding programs is like praising Mussolini for making the trains run on time. Errol can't seem to figure out what displeases him more - Rev. Wright's 10 second sound bite being used against him, supposedly out of context, or Wright getting more media exposure to put things in context.

Any possibility of Obama getting the moderate vote is gone with all of this, but he's still cool with the left. Democrats already have an ex KKK member in the senate, so why not diversify their racists and try to elect a man who has been a money donating member of a racist black church for 20+ years. I guess that would even things out for them.

Had my baby for almost two weeks now and absolutely love it. Sure I've taken a nice amount of great photos with my point and shoot cameras, but most of those I took in ideal conditions - good lighting, still objects, etc. Well, with the XSI I am no longer confined to those factors. I can boost the ISO up high without worrying about noise, the focus doesn't hunt and the camera turns on in a second. Am really psyched!

Figueroa, 42, and her husband, José, 41, bought their $445,000 three-bedroom, two-story dream home less than two years ago from a developer. Neither had owned property before. They support four children with Desiree working as a waitress in Brooklyn and José as a UPS driver.

"I never thought they'd let me have the house because my husband and I have such bad credit," Desiree explained.

Unfortunately, six months later they realized that they couldn't pay the $3700 monthly mortgage, bills and buy groceries. Whose fault?

We got suckered into it and looked like idiots," she said. "I'm not buying another house anytime soon.

Ah, but ofcourse. Couldn't be their failure to budget beforehand that's at fault. Nobody takes responsibility for anything anymore. That the real problem in this country.

Mine is on its way and will be delivered on Monday. Initially I was going for the body only, but then I figured that I might as well get it with the kit lense. EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS for only a $100 more? Why not? I am planning on having this camera with me at all times so, at only around 200 grams, this one will make for a perfect general use, walk around lense. While at it, I also ordered a second lense - a Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM. This one will be my indoor lense since I find the flash to be very obtrusive in a socia setting, and this baby open up to 1.8. This, ofcourse, means that I now have to get a camera bag, as I can't just throw a dSLR and lenses in my regular bag, as I did with my SONY H5 (which has served me admirably for two years, I should add). Tamrac Messenger 4 fits the bill perfectly.. On the outside it looks like a regular messenger bag, but inside its padded and has adjustable compartments for a body and lenses, which means that I won't have to look like a tourist till actually get to where I am shooting at. . First photos and impressions coming up some time next week. Stay tuned!

A lot of things have been written about Obama's pastor and Obama supposedly knowing or not knowing of his fiery speeches, but I think a more important point has been missed. I haven't seen anyone point out the reception with which these speeches were received at Obama's very church. See here (skip to 00:30), as Jeremiah Wright blasts America. Are there gasps of shock from the congregants? Nope. Passive silence? Nope. People cheering and apllauding? Yes. This is the church Obama attended for almost twenty years, and amongst those cheering and applauding people he has sat. Twenty years? Heck, those people were his family.

Sorry for the lull in posts. Have been trying to keep my work hours more reasonable, but the job is still kicking my ass here and there. Well, what's new, you ask? A bunch of stuff - spring is here, Rebel XSI, which I'll be buying, is coming out next month. That's right, my first SLR. That means more expenses for me - lenses and all, but more photos for you, as I'll be posting a lot more of those here. New Call of Duty 4 maps are coming out sometime this spring and that's pretty exciting, to me at least. I'll always have a soft spot for Battle Field 2 on PC, but I've never thought that I'ld be playing a first person shooter on a PS3 and enjoy it. Live and learn.

Right before the new year's eve, I promised myself to work less, update the blog more, work out more and eat less junk. Let's see. My work hours have been about the same due to our release being a bit late, blogging has been almost non existant, working out rate dropped due to the long hours, but I am eating a whole lot better and drinking less - so there's that. And speaking of food - below is the last wednesday's dinner.

My buddy picked up a skirt steak in jersey, which I marinaded in some chinese barbecue store that I bought at a local asian market. I wasn't sure what to expect when I took the meat off the grill, as it was marinading for two whole days, but it came out great - tender and flavorfull! A bottle of 2003 San Giuseppe Chianti went great with it.
Lamb chops next week!
